Medical Director for the Illinois Gamma Knife Center
Dr. George Bovis started his distinguished medical career at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. After earning his MD degree, Dr. Bovis received his neurosurgical training at the world-renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he completed six years of intensive training. He then pursued more advanced training by completing a fellowship program in cerebrovascular neurosurgery at the Mayfield Clinic in Cincinnati, Ohio, which is one of the finest neurosurgical training programs in the United States. Dr. Bovis is known throughout the United States for his passionate belief in the effectiveness of non-invasive surgery utilizing a powerful technology called the Gamma Knife. He has treated hundreds of patients with brain tumors using the leading-edge Gamma Knife technology. Due to Dr. Bovis’ expertise and national standing, he was appointed Medical Director for the Illinois Gamma Knife Center at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Illinois and in 2012 was named ‘Hellene of the Year’ by the Hellenic Bar Association of Illinois.
